Finally! For a time many fans believed a CW Batman series would never makes it’s way into the shared universe that comprises of Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl, and Black Lightning but it seems – potentially given recent rumor that Ben Affleck is leaving the DCEU Batman role behind – that WB has changed their minds.
Speaking to ScreenRant executive producer of The Flash, Andrew Kreisberg had the following to say about the CW’s recent revelation that the Dark Knight would be coming to the small screen:
“Honestly, I never would have thought we’d actually get to use Bruce Wayne TV. It was wishful thinking when we dropped the Wayne Tech easter egg early in The Flash’s first season but now [to see Daniel] in the role, it’s truly amazing.” – ScreenRant
For those unaware Kreisberg is, of course, referring to Originals star Daniel Gillies who was confirmed in an interview with Arrow EP Marc Guggenheim to be playing a slightly seasoned version of The Dark Knight in Arrow’s Season 5 finale. While not much was said on the character’s appearance in the initial statement Guggenheim did reveal that Gillies’ appearance “wouldn’t be a one off” and that his schedule shooting The Originals (a show that debuts during the mid-season) “allows for the character’s return for the bulk of the beginning of Season 6″.
Gillies joins an impressively short list of actors who have been fan-cast for roles to actually get said roles; standing with the likes of Ryan Reynold’s Deadpool and Channing Tatum’s Gambit.
