Supergirl 2×09: ‘Supergirl Lives’ Synopsis Revealed

While we did get that really cool promo a few weeks back regarding this episode, there wasn’t really a lot of info portrayed except that Supergirl was going to be on a planet with a red sun and Roulette would making an appearance. Many fans were theorizing that the main antagonist was going to be the Dominators once more, as it was revealed that they were going to make a return on Supergirl’s show in the future. This is, however, not the case. The CW finally revealed the promo of the episode coming in a few short weeks.

Kara (Melissa Benoist) is moved by the story of a missing woman named Izzy (guest star Harley Quinn Smith) and decides to investigate despite Snapper Carr’s (guest star Ian Gomez) order to leave it alone. Kara takes Mon-El (Chris Wood) with her to the last place Izzy was seen and the duo find themselves thrust through a portal to another planet, Slaver’s Moon, where the downtrodden are sold as slaves. The leader of the trafficking ring is none other than Roulette (guest star Dichen Lachman). To make matters worse, Slaver’s Moon has a red sun, which means Kara and Mon-El are stripped of their powers and stuck on the planet with no way home. Meanwhile, back on Earth, Alex (Chyler Leigh) blames herself for Kara’s disappearance, fearing she’s become too focused on her new relationship with Maggie (guest star Floriana Lima) and too complacent in watching out for her sister. Kevin Smith directed the episode with story by Andrew Kreisberg and teleplay by Eric Carrasco & Jess Kardos.

So, Roulette will finally make her return as the primary antagonist, last being seen in the episode ‘Survivors’ (2×04). As well as Snapper Carr coming back again after being absent the last few episodes. This will make for an interesting plotline as it will have the obligatory “super beings losing their powers for an episode” episode but hopefully it will be interesting. I have hope in Kevin Smith because I think he works better in TV nowadays as The Flash episodes ‘The Runaway Dinosaur’ and ‘Killer Frost’ were very well done. I am just incredibly happy there will be no Nicolas Cage or Brainiac spiders in this episode.

‘Supergirl Lives’ will be airing on Monday, January 23rd.
