Supergirl’s Universe Will NOT Merge With That of The Flash

While – some time ago – there was a rumor that The Flash’s adaption of comic book storyline Flashpoint would last until this years multi-show crossover and would bring Supergirl’s entire universe into coexistence with the rest of the CW’s DC shows, it seems any chance of universe merging (for this year) has been put to rest.

A recent interview between Supergirl EP Andrew Kreisberg and Entertainment Weekly not only revealed a ton about Supergirl’s second season but also revealed that there are no plans to bring the Girl of Steel’s universe into coexistence with the other DCTV shows.

As revealed during The Flash-Supergirl crossover last year, Supergirl hails from a different universe. Are you planning on bringing Supergirl into our universe?

Not for her entire world, but Kara will be traveling from her dimension to our dimension, “our” being the world that The Flash, Arrow, and Legends lives in. – Entertainment Weekly

While this news might disappoint some, the truth of the matter is it’s likely for the best. Despite the fact that it would be both interesting and awesome to have all CW DCTV shows coexist in one universe the established ‘rules’ of Supergirl’s universe (that Superman and Supergirl have and are the only public heroes) and the ‘rules’ of the other DCTV shows universes would call for a ton of unnecessary retconning and universe reestablishment.

Regardless fans can look forward to seeing Kara jump into the same universe as The Flash come this years four show, three part, Supergirl, Flash, Legends, Arrow crossover.
