When Does Vixen Season 2 Take Place?

Despite the fact that Vixen’s first season aired in August of 2015 the show itself was set between the 15th and 16th episodes of both Arrow and The Flash’s respective season’s, something EP’s made clear prior to the release of the show. Unfortunately that doesn’t seem to be the case with Vixen’s second season – which is set to debut in August of this year – while fans have been given some casting confirmations, no time period for the show has been set specifically – outside of the fact that it takes place prior to the end of the respective Flash and Arrow seasons – leaving many fans confused.

Given some context clues – provided by castings – the timeline above was created as a means of guessing just when Vixen’s second season might take place. As aforementioned castings for the show have been confirmed, alongside Green Arrow and The Flash, The Atom, Firestorm (Jax and Stein) and the Black Canary are all set to appear, three character’s whose presence actually narrows down the potential timeline of the show a great deal.

In the fifteenth episode of Arrow’s fourth season, Vixen appeared and seemed to show familiarity with Laurel – directly indicating the two had met beforehand, given this it immediately stands to reason that Vixen’s second season takes place prior to 4×15 of Arrow and 2×15 of The Flash. Furthermore, given the fact that both Firestorm and The Atom are recruited to help Rip Hunter prior to The Flash’s 11th episode of it’s 2nd season and Arrow’s 11th episode of it’s fourth season, the timeline is again narrowed down even further.

On the other side of things, Jax doesn’t become Firestorm until The Flash’s 2×04, and Ray – who is presumed dead – doesn’t return until Arrow’s 4×06, meaning that Vixen’s second season has to take place between Arrow/The Flash’s sixth episodes of their respective seasons, and Arrow/The Flash’s 11th episodes of their respective seasons.

Assuming this timeframe is correct – and that Vixen follows one story rather than skipping around various times in Mari McCabe’s life – it stands to reason that Vixen Season 2 will be set between November of 2015 and January of 2016.
